The thing that God tells us to do in the Bible more than anything else is, do not be afraid.
However, another one of the greatest commandments in the Bible is to tell other people about His love.
“And he said to them, ‘Go into all the world and proclaim the gospel to the whole creation.'”
As Christians, it is easy to get confused about what it is that God is calling us to do. Here at college, I feel like I am surrounded by people who are unsure of what lies ahead for them, what their path will look like. I will admit that even I have felt utterly lost at times and wondered what in the world it is that I am supposed to be doing.
“Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
Sometimes I wonder why we get so stressed out, though. Do we so easily forget that there is a plan already laid down and perfectly pieced together for us? It is so hard not to want to be so controlling of everything and want to figure out everything before it is time. We must remember that God knows exactly what He is doing.
“Declare his glory among the nations, his glorious work among all the peoples!”
We also must remember that our ultimate goal is to share His Word with others. This does not necessarily mean to travel all over the world and be a full-time missionary, for that is not in everyone’s plan. But what is supposed to be a part of everyone’s plan is to minister to the people we encounter in everyday life and to ultimately be able to show His love through your own actions.
“How then will they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in him of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching?”
Let us embrace these things that Jesus tells us to do, whether it be in mission work or in telling people that we meet in our everyday lives.
